    1. Jessika,

      I'll provide you with a response.

      The code above is missing the start codon. Alisia mentions below that she included it but added a random base, but in DNA, the start codon should code as TAC. I don't see it there. That makes it hard to know where to start.

      Alisia gave us a clue on where to start with the bolded underlined random letters in the beginning of the code. That isn't the clue we are supposed to look for as it doesn't exist in real DNA (you can't bold and underline DNA bases!), but for our purposes, we can start after that and see what results.

      I came up with the same sentence as you. I've provided my decode below for reference, both the one that would decode because of the absence of a start codon and the one if you use the bolded underlined letters as clues of where to start.

      DNA: ATTGAAGCCGTTGGAAAACGCTAGTGGAATTAGAATC
      RNA: UAACUUCGGCAACCUUUUGCGAUCACCUUAAUCUUAG
      Triplets: UAA CUU CGG CAA CCU UUU GCG AUC ACC UUA AUC UUA G
      Because is study dream become in confusing book monster because book because G

      UUC GGC AAC CUU UUG CGA UCA CCU UAA UCU UAG
      For like anthropology is to evolve and sit become an be.

  2. Hey this is how I uncoded your Sentence
    A=U
    T=A
    G=C
    C=G
    ATTG AAG CCG TTG GAA AAC GCT AGT GGA ATT AGA ATC
    UAAC UUC GGC AAC CUU UUG CGA UCA CCU UAA UCU UAG
    "As is" (Filler) For Like Anthropology is to evolve and become an be (end codon)
    Since I didn't find the start condon (AUG or TAC) I had trouble with your random base I wasn't sure if it was a base or start of your sentence. You were also missing a ending random base. Your sentence doesn't make sense to me either I feel I got "Anthropology is to evolve and" But I couldn't place my finger around everything else. Sorry!

    1. My sentence was "To study anthropology is to evolve and become an ape"
      The start codon was at the beginning, AUG but I added a random T or U in the beginning. My end codon was ATC or UAG.

    2. Abby & Alisia,

      I've sent an email to both of you about this.

      Alisia: Jessika Miller decoded first. She is the one you need to respond to for credit. You don't need to delete Abby's comment, but you must respond to Jessika.

      Abby: In order to get credit for the decode, you need to find a code that hasn't been decoded yet. Jessika already has this one decoded.

  3. Hi Alisia so I was figuring out what might had gone wrong and I think I found it. I think there was confusion in the Cytosine (C)= Guanine (G).
    I got AAG= UUC which means For. But I feel you confused it with AAC= UUG which gives To same goes with CCG (DNA) and GGC (RNA) CCG= GGC which is like. But if GGC was DNA with would have given you CCG in the RNA which is Study. I still couldn't find Ape, which is AGU (RNA) and TCA (DNA) and the beginning condon TAC or AUG. But I hope this helps!

  4. Alisia,

    I've provided a more complete explanation of errors in your code to Jessika above. I'm confused by your claim that the start codon was in there because I can't see it anywhere. If you have questions about the comments and explanations, please email.
